Roper St. Francis Healthcare on June 11 broke ground on a $1.2 billion hospital in North Charleston, S.C.
Three things to know:
1. The 27-acre hospital campus is expected to be completed in 2029, setting the stage for a new era in the health system’s storied 170-year history, President and CEO Joseph DeLeon said in a June 11 news release.
2. The campus will be the fourth location of Roper Hospital since it opened in downtown Charleston in 1856. The move to North Charleston will mark a significant step in the health system’s 2030 strategic plan to expand the Roper’s footprint and modernize technology to better serve future generations.
3. The hospital will replace the health system’s current hospital in downtown Charleston.
