Rockledge, Fla.-based Health First is planning a $230 million, five-floor patient tower expansion at Palm Bay (Fla.) Hospital.
Four things to know about the project, per a May 29 news release from the health system:
1. Built in the 1990s as a micro-hospital, Palm Bay Hospital now includes 120 beds and more than 200 physicians and offers more than 40 medical specialties.
2. Expansion components include:
- 60 new inpatient beds
- Expanded operating rooms, cath labs and pre-op/recovery spaces
- Upgraded sterile processing department
- Two shelled floors to support future growth — potentially adding up to 60 beds
- Relocated and doubled number of operating rooms, cath labs and pre-op/recovery space
- Additional visitor and associate parking
3. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2026 and be completed in 2028.4. The system is also investing in other Brevard County projects, including the $410 million Cape Canaveral Hospital and medical office building on Merritt Island, two freestanding emergency departments, an expanded air ambulance fleet and implementation of Epic’s EHR system.
